Update: The deadline for applications has been extended to 17.00 on 15 June 2022.
Applications are open once again for the pioneering Lead Creative Schools Scheme, part of the third phase of the Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government’s Creative learning through the arts – an action plan for Wales.
From today, school leaders can apply to embark upon a memorable exploration that will support them to collaborate with Creative Agents and Creative Practitioners to nurture the creativity of their learners as they implement and embed the Curriculum for Wales.
Since the beginning of the programme in 2015, 678 schools have participated in the Lead Creative Schools Scheme generating over 1,800 teacher and over 42,000 learner engagements. Teachers and learners have experienced the benefit of collaborating with creative professionals to devise authentic and engaging creative approaches to teaching and learning.
What is the Lead Creative Schools Scheme?
The Lead Creative Schools Scheme is a two-step intervention that supports schools to develop their practice whilst exploring the transformational creative learning pedagogy, Creative Habits of Mind and the High Functioning classroom, in line with the four core purposes of Curriculum for Wales. The scheme encourages school leaders to embed changes to pedagogy, across their setting, through the design of creative and authentic learning experiences, with the support of Creative Agents and practitioners.
At each step, teachers, learners and Creative Agents and Practitioners collaborate to design unique activity to help address specific challenges identified in the school’s development plan.
